Kolkata, May 14 (Washington Bangla Radio): The music launch of Soumya Sarkar’s two films took place recently at Press Club, Kolkata. The two films “Monihara” and “Sesh Adhyay” are based on Rabindranath Tagore’s stories. Present at the music launch was Soumya Sarkar, Pulokita Ghosh, Tuhin Kumar and Juiee Sarkar.
Veena Malik promoted her upcoming film “Zindagi 50-50” in Kolkata with style. The actress has been promoting her film across several cities like Jaipur, Ahmedabad and her visit to Kolkata is part of this promotional tour. The film is slated to release on 24th May, 2013.
The music soundtrack of Aniket Aniket Chattopadhaya directed upcoming Kolkata Bangla movie ‘Mahapurush o Kapurush’ was launched at a live event in open air at Millennium Park adjacent to the Ganges river in Kolkata. An excellent choice of venue for sure as gentle and soothing breeze from the Ganges created an ambiance perfect for a musical summer evening.

‘Goenda Gogol’, the cinematic treat for children and one of the treats for them in the ongoing summer vacation started its journey with a premiere which saw some of the most popular stars and of Tollywood. But the show stealers were the starlets i.e. the little one who accompanied their parents to the premiere. Being a movie dedicated to kids, the premiere of ‘Goenda Gogol’ saw a huge number of kids and toddlers rushing in. The kids of the Who’s of the city got special attention from the media and general.
It is strangely in fashion both among the directors of Tollywood and Bollywood to use the names of blockbuster films of the past and make remakes or whatsoever of them. But only a few of them is able to live to its name. The same is the case with the recently released film Har Mana Har which is the namesake of yester year actor Uttam Kumar. The name is the only similarity between the two films. Apart from this, there is no other similarity between the two films.
Director Arindam Dey’s cinematic adaption of Samaresh Basu’s series on teenage detective Gogol turns out to be a decent treat for the audience, especially for children. ‘Goenda Gogol’ is one of the most prominent non-adult sleuths in Bengali literature with immense popularity. Unlike in the series ‘Pancha Pandav’ we find this boy operating alone mostly with no permanent teammate. The character was created in the early 70’s when Cell phones or Tablets were unknown in India. The ambiance of the story has been reset by the director to fit the present day but still those who have read the original series can easily accept the newly wrapped big screen version.
Kolkata, May 28 (Washington Bangla Radio): The scene is that of a woman begging in front of a politician who seems disinterested in the appeals that she is making. He ignores her appeals and is engaged in his own world of corruption and back biting. This scene was enacted by Leena who is playing the role of Shampa and Somnath Chatterjee who is playing the role of Shirshendu Basu in this film. The film for which this scene is been shot is Niyoti. The film is the first venture under the banner of Raj Entertainments.
Ashoke Raaj who is the director of the film gave a sneak peek into the film. “Niyoti means destiny. The film is based on our society. With the help of the film I have tried to show how destiny can play an important role in what an individual becomes. This is the reason why one becomes a thief, a driver, a teacher or a sex worker. My film is based on Kolkata and the characters are people whom one meets in their day to day life. This is a story of Raghu (Ashoke Raaj) and Shampa (Leena). Raghu is a milkman by profession and Shampa is the daughter of a laborer. Raghu is mistaken as a murderer and his life changes. He becomes a don. Shampa on the other hand becomes a sex worker. What happens to them as a result of their destiny is the main twist in the film”.

ongoing projects Anya Naa is currently being shot at different
locations in the city. This WBRi correspondent learned about various
aspects of
the film from the director himself at The Sonnet Hotel where shooting
of one of the sequences of the film was taking place. The
sequence which was shot is that of Nigel Akkara narrating the script of
his
film to a producer.

Kolkata, June 6 (Washington Bangla Radio): The music release of one of the most awaited films of 2013 took place at the Music World. "Mrs. Sen" the fourth movie from the kitty of director Agnidev Chatterjee and deals with the sensitive issue of infidelity. The story brings together an interesting mix of casting. It stars Rituparna Sengupta, Rohit Roy and Hrishita Bhatt in the lead.
At the very beginning of the event Agnidev Chatterjee was spotted chit-chatting, sharing a laugh and his words with people approaching him. WBRI caught up with the director who was looking relaxed in a white t-shirt, and his confidence about the movie was quite clear. “This movie is different from the others ones that I have made, entirely different storyline. The response has even been very good so far. I am expecting it to do very well”, said When Agnidev Chatterjee was asked about his reaction to the kind of response the film is getting from the promos. He sure has reasons as the film promos do give the impression of a very mature movie with an extremely high quality production.

Prem Juddho, an Indian Bangla movie based on love, politics and family rivalry began the box office journey this Friday. The premiere show which took place at Star Theatre saw the presence of the cast and crew of the film. The film made under the Purple Motion pictures has been directed by Apurba Banerjee. Present at the premiere show was Pallavi, Arjun Chakraborty, Premjit, Sudip Mukherjee, Sudip Chatterjee, Nimu Bhowmick, Apurba Banerjee, Krishnakishore and Raju Thakkar.
Mrs. Sen, the fourth film from director Agnidev Chatterjee’s kitty is the story of unusual infidelity. Somnath Sen (Rohit Roy) is married to Anuradha Sen (Rituparna Sengupta) in India. They are childless. Somnath has another wife, Sohini Sen (Hrishitaa Bhatt) and has a child whom Somnath has named Rishab. Anuradha wanted to name their (Somnath and Anuradha’s) son Rishab but Anuradha could not conceive a child.
